Updating Your Smart Serve Certification

Thank you for volunteering with us! To ensure we are compliant with local regulations, we need to verify that all volunteers assigned to certain shifts have a valid, up-to-date Smart Serve certification.

If you received an email directing you to this page, it means your Smart Serve information in our system is either incomplete, expired, or formatted incorrectly. Please review the scenarios below to find out what you need to do next.

Scenario A: I need to get certified for the first time or recertify

If you have never been Smart Serve certified, or if your previous certification has expired (after 5 years), you will need to complete the training.

What you need to do:

1. Get Certified: Visit Smart Serve to complete your training and receive your certificate.

2. Get Reimbursed: We will cover the cost of your certification! Once you have passed, please email a copy of your invoice/receipt and your new certificate by the end of the festival (July 20) to volunteers@ottawabluesfest.ca

3. Update Your Profile: Follow the tutorial at the bottom of this page to add your new certificate number to our volunteer portal.

Scenario B: I already have a valid Smart Serve certificate

If you are already fully certified but left the field blank during sign-up—or if you entered the number in a format our system couldn’t read—you just need to update your file.

What you need to do:

1. Locate your number: Find your valid Smart Serve certificate number. If you are unsure, you can find it on the Smart Serve website.

2. Update Your Profile: Follow the tutorial below to input your number into our system. (You do not need to email us a copy of your certificate unless requested).
